Do you ever have so many contacts on Instagram that you don’t even remember who you are following? Instagram is testing a new feature to help you distinguish which accounts you respond to most and which ones less. This new feature should help you decide which contacts you might want to stop following.
The new function should divide the accounts you follow into groups according to different parameters:
- Account categories (such as art, comics, travel, etc.)
- The start date when you began following the profile.
- Who you are least communicating with or who you are most connected to
- Whose posts you see most in your feed.
While this is a small update, it would save all users the trouble of managing contacts.
The Instagram algorithm emphasizes interaction and wants users to actively communicate with each other. Introducing this feature would help eliminate followers that you are not as interested in. Instagram expects more active connection, improved communication and increased interaction from this new feature. However, Instagram has not yet commented on when it will introduce the new categorization globally.
