Instagram is introducing Direct Messages into its web interface. They’re answering the requests of users who missed being able to send and receive private messages via the web application.
Previously, you could only exchange direct messages with other users in the mobile version of Instagram running on Android and iOS.
This news is related to the fact that Facebook started connecting Facebook and Instagram mailboxes last year. The change is supposed to benefit ordinary users rather than business accounts.
This new possibility will greatly relieve all businesses, brands, creators and community managers around the world who can now communicate with their followers via a computer keyboard, rather than only being able to use their phones, as they previously did.
Instagram messages on the web are supposed to work exactly like in the mobile app. You can create new chat groups or communicate one-on-one, either from the message window or directly from the user’s profile. You can also like by double-clicking messages and sharing photos from your computer in a conversation.
So far, only a small percentage of users have access to the new feature as Instagram is still testing it. However, it has been confirmed that it should be available to all users as soon as possible.
