Facebook is testing new maps in the nearby friends feature

The Facebook Friends tool was launched four years ago. But its appearance is not user-friendly, so Facebook decided to improve it. Currently, Facebook is testing the possible integration of a map that would make it easier to find friends in your surrounding area.

Nearby Friends lets you share your location with Facebook friends. If you want to look at the feature, select ”Nearby Friends” from the list of tools under your profile. Here you can check if you have the feature turned on and possibly activate it. You will then see friends who use this tool to see how far away they are. Nearby Friends should encourage personal meetings.

Adding a map to Nearby Friends will make it easier for friends to search. The test version shows that the city and the surrounding area will appear on the map. Obviously, you need to have localisation services turned on.

Friends map around Facebook is testing for Stories, where users can view stories of friends or public Stories just by location on the map.

Similar functions exist in the competitive app Snapchat.
